I'm currently a graduate student at The University of Edinburgh, working on my PhD in Informatics/Computer Science. I did my undergraduate work at The University of Texas at Austin, also in Computer Science. Research-wise, I'm interested in natural language processing, and in automatically annotating raw text with semantic information. Previously, this has kept me busy with various semantic role labelling-related projects, all of which revolved around the Shalmaneser tool.
I have other interests, of course -- I'm a dabbling game designer, photographer, and when the mood strikes me I play a really terrible bass guitar. I'm also slightly obsessed with what's known as `Golden Age' science fiction -- stories written between 1940-1960, or thereabouts.
In case you hadn't already guessed, I'm deeply into computers and how we use them -- as flexible tools for creative expression I simply don't think they can be beat. I'm also something of a UNIX geek, even though I lack both the proper age and facial hair for such an interest.
If you're interested, or in the market for a cogsci postdoc, a web developer, or both, you might want to take a look at my resume [pdf].
